Build a Bed Donations & Volunteers Needed

Join our church wide Build a Bed project to bring comfort and hope to local children in need! We're partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a remarkable nonprofit dedicated to ensuring no child sleeps on the floor. Their mission is to build and deliver beds to children who lack a safe, comfortable place to rest, transforming lives one bed at a time. Last year this event was a major success. We had over 80 volunteers and we built 30 beds. We also raised over $5,000 for the organization.

This year we will meet in the Pavilion on Saturday, September 19, from 8:45 AM to 12:00 noon. Each bed costs $250 to cover materials and bedding, which includes twin sheets, a pillowcase, a pillow, and a comforter. We’re seeking donations of money and/or new twin bedding to make this possible—every contribution and at any amount counts!

All skill levels are welcome for building beds. The work is light, sanding, drilling, staining and assembly of parts of the beds with screws, nuts and bolts. Each position will have training.

The Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary will provide coffee and fresh rolls in the morning and a light lunch at noon to keep our volunteers energized. They are also coordinating bedding donations.

For monetary contributions, please make checks payable to Knights of Columbus – Council 9905. In the notes section of the check please add donation for SHP and provide your email if you would like a faster way of getting a receipt. We will have a collection bin in the Church entry way for donations.

Be a part of this heartwarming initiative!

Ministry of Mothers here at St. Joe’s on Monday Nights

No matter where you are in your journey as a mother and a catholic woman, we know there are plenty of joys and struggles along the way. This small group is for mothers with children ages 0-18, bonded by their vocation and solidified by their faith. Our goal is to connect young mothers to form lasting friendships and encourage growth in their relationship with God. This weekly bible study is held on Monday nights throughout the school year, childcare is available. The group also plans occasional spouse and family friendly activities. For more information contact MinistryofMothers171@gmail.com.
