Synod Small Groups

The Synod Process is taking place the week of September 19  and concludes the week of October 24. Small groups include six 2 hour sessions that explore three primary focus areas. Our parish is hosting two open sessions for anyone in the parish to participate:

  • Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm — 8:30 pm in St. Joseph Hall
  • Wednesday lunch gathering from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm (bring a bag lunch) in St. Joseph Hall

Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend all 6 sessions, but if you cannot make them all that is okay. Your input is highly valuable so please attend as many as possible. Our parish is also looking for Group Facilitators to lead these small groups and Scribes to record the conversations. If you are interested in these volunteer opportunities please contact Meisha Johnson at [email protected]

For those already meeting in a small group, that’s great! You can sign your group up in the gathering space with a contact person and the Synod Committee will work with you to get the Synod Materials for those six weeks. For more information, please visit our website at www.mystjoes.me. See you at the Synod!

Bible Study - Eucharist: On Thursday evenings starting November 4, 2021

We are excited to announce a new FORMED Bible Study! When we think of how the Mass or the Eucharist is presented in the Bible, likely the first passages that come to mind are the Gospel accounts of the Last Supper when Jesus celebrated the Jewish Passover and broke bread with His Apostles.

Over the sessions of this Bible Study on the Eucharist, Dr. Brant Pitre shows us the prefigurements of and teachings about this sacrament, and how they are found in numerous books of both the Old and New Testaments. Join us as we learn why the Church has always referred to the Eucharist as the "source and summit of Christian Life," and why it is so important for us today.

  • What: Eucharist Bible Study
  • When: November 4, 11, 18, December 2, 9 and 16, January 6, 13, 20, 27, February 3, and 10.
  • Time: 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
  • Where: In the Worship Space
  • Cost: Study guides will be provided at a cost of $20. Couples may choose to share a copy.

On November 11 in addition to our Eucharist study we will also watch and discuss the The Mass of Corpus Christi homily by Fr. Mike Schmitz, notable for his many videos on Catholic Teachings and most recently voted top "5" Apple podcast for “Bible in a year.”

Come join us for Bible Study of fun, learning, and deepening our faith! Sign-up by clicking the register button below or call parish office at 651.784.3015.
