St. Joseph of the Lakes

Last week I entered the parish office while Jenni and Anne were in the middle of a conversation. I overheard their explaining that people had been calling “trying get his mailing address or email and we don’t have it yet.” I assumed that it was people who were seeking to contact me after I moved. I told them that in this final column I would leave my contact information. They turned and looked at me and as gently as possible informed me that there were not people looking for my contact information, but instead they were trying to contact Fr. Bill Deziel. As I recovered from my embarrassment we all laughed at my assumption and then moved on to other business. 

It has been a joy to serve you these past nine years. I will treasure memories that I gained while I was with you. I will continue to hold you in my prayers as I thank God for letting me have the privilege of being your shepherd. While I am looking forward to my new adventures I am at the same time consoling myself with the thought that I shall come back to visit during big parish moments like the Summer Festival. I will still look forward to seeing how little ones are growing up.  I will take joy in watching Saint Joseph of the Lakes flourish with their new pastor.
