I thought last week would be my final column, but before I begin settling in at my new residence I have to begin by saying: Thank You!!!
Sunday was a beautiful day. The choir blew me away with their gift of “Jerusalem, my happy home”. It has been a long time since music has given me goosebumps, but they succeeded. The whole Mass with so many gathered was very moving. The reception was wonderful. Although I never made it to the food line, I did see pictures of how beautifully decorated it was, and the egg bake and treats were great. Truly the goodbye greetings that began almost as soon as I entered and did not stop until the last person left the room warmed my heart. You gave me such encouragement and affection that at times I was overwhelmed. When I got home I had to take a two hour nap just to recover enough to then go to bed.
I have been gifted to be your pastor and I know that a very capable priest is following me. You will be in good hands!
My move on Monday went without a hitch. The movers were there at 7:30 am and had all my stuff packed up by 9:00 am. They were done unloading by 12:00 noon. Now is the unpacking. I am hoping to get to all of your many cards in the next two weeks. Thank you for being my spiritual family. I will hold you close to my heart in my new journeys.
Fr. Mike
