Time for a Sabbatical

I am glad that the CCW sponsored a night with the Lino Lakes police department to talk about the growing threat of scammers. It was particularly poignant given the fact that same week we were scammed to the point of one of our staff members being personally affected and directly targeted. But thank goodness it was quickly caught and remedied.

On another note:
As a parish community, we have had a rough passage through some difficult months since early summer. One of the points of
focus was directed at our parish administrator Amy Moore. Several members of our community accused her of joining the prevailing “culture of death” when she responded to requests that multiple anti-abortion posters that were hung throughout our campus be taken down prior to the Summer Festival. It was discussed and decided that staff and parish leadership would collaborate with our newly formed Respect Life Commission to identify posters that would provide compassionate messaging for all guests and parishioners to experience.

Amy has served our community well for 14 years. The Trustees and I have met with her in recent weeks and have come to the decision that in response to the pain that Amy has had to endure in recent months, we are granting her a 3 month sabbatical to regenerate her spirit so that she can renew her work here with a fresh vitality. During the time of her sabbatical, Amy plans to participate in a study of the Heritage edition of the St. John’s Bible, a copy of which our parish has been gifted and we are able to view in our Gathering Space. It has been her goal for two years to lead a small group on the Heritage Bible, and given a time of respite, she plans to launch that group upon her return in early 2024.
